HOW TO PARTICIPATE
MEET WITH OUR TEAM
If you’re interested in joining our other investment groups, we first ask that you meet with one of our board members to understand our mission, expectations and commitment. We will also take that opportunity to learn what types of businesses you’re most interested in investing in and your preferred investment methods.
GET A SEAT AT THE TABLE
Once our team has welcomed you as one of our investors, you’ll be invited to participate in a finalist selection dinner. At this dinner, our team of Rice MBA veterans will present companies short-listed for consideration. At the dinner, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback about each potential idea. Investor partners will also be allowed to vote on which teams to invite to the event.
PARTICIPATING AT THE EVENT
At the Veterans Business Battle event, you will be given an opportunity to meet all finalists and learn about their business ideas and goals. You’ll also have a seat at the investors’ table during pitches, where you’ll be able to ask more questions based on presentations. We’ve also set aside private meeting rooms on the Rice University campus for you to speak with the finalists. It’s not just our finalists who attend the event, however. Semi-finalists who chose to often also set up a booth and are looking for an opportunity to speak with investors.
We understand that in any business negotiations, some deals may not close. However, we ask that all investors make a good-faith effort to partner with our finalists once an offer has been extended. We also encourage our investors to explore various forms of investment, including equity investments and partnerships.
